News for 2009

February:

Church meeting to confirm Church Vision statement, after Keith had individually visited each of the church congregation.

March:

The church hosted Whitcliffe bible translators. The team that came together was made up of Americans, Central Asians, English and one Russian. Together they have one vision which is to see the bible translated into a language that is spoken by more than 4 million people in Central Asia. By opening the building for them we played a part in seeing that realised. They were able to work in peace and quiet for a week and check though the translation of the books of Lamentations & Song of Songs, and the first 41 Psalms. They are now approved for publication. Since all the finances for this project come from churches and individuals with a heart for this work, the cost of meeting together each year is always a challenge.

A new initiative started this month, with a women's lunch at the Apple Tree next door. Open to all to attend to enjoy some lovely food and great company and a fantastic opportunity to meet friends old and new!

June:

During June and July, the church hosted and ran "A life worth living course".

Following on from the successful women's lunch started in March, we started a men's lunch also at the Apple Tree.

July:

We held our annual cream tea with the weather very much against us this year. The tea, scones and strawberries were enjoyed together in the church, and afterwards Eddie and Helen's garden was open for us to visit - the weather had improved by then!

October:

We held a Harvest Thanksgiving and shared tea to celebrate all the good things God provides for us.

December:

Christmas carols were celebrated in the Apple Tree; with donations this year raising £175.00 for the Meningitis Trust.

We also held our Christmas Carols by candlelight service, the Navity Service, and of course our Christmas Day morning celebrations.
